A Food Sensitive Snack Review Series
We’ve all seen these on instagram by now right - or is just my algorithm?! After watching the adds for several months I broke down and ordered Oat Haus Granola Butter so you wouldn’t have to. Let’s get into it.
About:
Oat Haus Granola Butter was founded by a fellow food sensitive girly, Ali. Oat Haus Granola Butter is the world’s first oat based spread. Oat Haus Granola Butter is designed to give nut sensitive individuals an alternative spread. Oat Haus Granola Butter can be found in Whole Foods, Target, Amazon as well as directly on their site, Oat.haus.
Flavors tried: Brownie Batter, Cookie Dough and Cinnamon Roll
Dietary Considerations: Oat Haus Granola Butter is top 8 Allergen friendly free including gluten free, dairy free, nut free and soy free. The Oat Haus Granola Butter is also kosher, vegan and non-gmo. All of the flavors I tried had 2g of protein per serving and 12g of fat (4g of saturated fat and 0 trans fat). Sugars ranged from 4-5g. Each serving does have some potassium, iron and calcium but pretty small amounts. It should be noted the serving size is 2tbsp.
Price:
Reasonable. Each jar is 12oz and can be found as low as $7.99 per jar. For anyone who is use to buying natural/organic nut spreads this is slightly more expensive, but still fair. The website offers bundle and save deals as well if you, like me, can’t pick just one flavor to try.
Taste:
Oat Haus Granola Butter is a texture that may take some getting use to. There is a grittiness that any smooth pb lover (aka me) may not take kindly too. The flavors were pretty spot on to the corresponding descriptions. My personal favorite was brownie batter, but I just couldn’t get over the grainy feeling. This one gets a “gross” rating for me.
Overall ”Sneaky” Score:
3. Shove the snack back in the cupboard and simply forget it exists
Wrap Up:
I really wanted to like these. I tried to convince myself I did like them but ultimately they sat in clear view for a month and didn’t get touched by me OR my boyfriend….and he eats EVERYTHING. The packaging was also subpar. Obviously any natural spread will separate/produce oil but I have never experienced this much oil leakage. It was everywhere. All in all, If you don’t mind a little sandpaper in your non-peanut spreads give it a go, but if you like me are texture sensitive this targeted instagram add might be a skip.
See you next week for the third installment of Sneaky Snacks: A Food Sensitive Snack Review Series
