Sneaky Snacks: Wilde Protein Chips Review

Updated: May 25, 2023

A Food Sensitive Snack Review Series

Let's be honest, no one wants to read pages and pages of a review for a single snack item, so we're going to keep it short and sweet. Let’s get into it.

About:

Wilde Protein Chips are made from antibiotic and hormone free chicken breast, egg whites and chicken bone broth along with other ingredients such as tapioca starch and sunflower oil. The chips are made in the USA and can be found at Wegmans, Whole Foods and Amazon to name a few.

Flavors tried: Salt and Vinegar, Buffalo and Chicken and Waffles

Dietary Considerations: Wilde Protein Chips are gluten free, dairy free, nut free and grain free. Flavors range from 10-12g of protein per serving and have 1g of sugar per serving. Per bag there is 10g of fat, of which only 1g is a saturated fat.

Price:

Reasonable(ish). The 2.25oz bags (pictured) are around $4.50. The 4oz bags are around $8, which is average for a bag of gf/df protein chips (ie. Quest Chips).

Taste:

If you are accustomed to super crunchy, oily kettle chips then it will take some getting use to Wilde Protein Chips. The texture is similar to a Pringle. The salt and vinegar flavor is exactly what you want from a salt and vinegar chip, but the sleeper flavor was by far the chicken and waffles. Living in WNY I have never actually had a chicken and waffles dish, so I went in blind but WOW if these are what real chicken and waffles tastes like - sign me up! They are much sweeter than expected but the balance of savory and sweet is on point. All in all - I like it.

Overall ”Sneaky” Score:

8. Don’t mention the snack to your boyfriend and maybe he won’t eat it

Wrap Up:

Wilde Protein Chips are the perfect crunchy, salty snack. I will say if you don’t want your boyfriend to eat them I recommend not letting him try a bite the first time you get them or you might find yourself swearing under your breathe when you come home and realize not only did he find them (in your sneaky snack location) but he ate the rest of the bag…
